Striving to improve animal conservation and welfare
through innovative endocrine studies

Research
The Wildlife Conservation and Reproductive Endocrinology Lab (WiCRE) is dedicated to advancing the understanding of endocrine function in wildlife. Through our research, we strive to provide valuable insights about reproductive biology and stress physiology to inform conservation strategies and enhance biodiversity. We are particularly interested in understanding the complex interactions between stress and reproduction.
WiCRE is one of the few labs in Australia specializing in non-invasive hormone monitoring techniques. Using faeces, urine, saliva, hair, or scales, we can provide a window into animal physiology with minimal impact on the individual. These techniques are crucial for assessing the health and reproductive status of vulnerable or sensitive animals. We have developed and optimized non-invasive monitoring tools for a wide range of species, with applications for both captive and wild animals.
